Google teams up with filmmakers Ridley Scott, Richie Mehta, Anurag Kashyap
Apart from Anurag Kashyap, the man responsible for a new wave of cinema in the country, Ridley Scott, legendary director of Thelma & Louise, Hannibal, The Martian etc and Richie Mehta, Award-winning Canadian filmmaker, the project will also involve Zoya Akhtar, Shekhar kapoor and R.Balki. The films in the series have typically seen theatrical and multi-platform releases, including streaming on Google-owned YouTube.
The project invites participants to grab any camera, including on smartphones, to film whatever catches their fancy to help showcase “the story of evolving India”, according to Google India marketing director Sandeep Menon.
In a call-out to all Indians to capture a normal day in their life on October 10, 2015, the project aims to explore the terrains, cultures, emotions, cuisines and festivities through the eyes of a normal Indian. “India stands at a unique moment in its history: a time of great change, sparked by technology”.
The one, whose footage makes it to the completed film, will be credited as a “co-executive”, getting an opportunity to highlight in the first client produced full-length narrative gave in a solitary day on life in India.
Selected clips will be made into a movie scheduled to be released next year that will be directed by Mehta. “It just essentially needs to hold up under witness to what life is similar to in today’s India – that is sufficiently supernatural”. To scatter the myths of India or affirm their truths.
Anurag Kashyap added, We want to tell the story of India in a single day, and we want you to help. “Make it your point of view. It will be a thrill to discover”. “Let us know what you cherish, what you despise, what stresses you, what you seek after, what you need to change”.
