Google To Copy Apple’s 2014 Family Plan, Expand Sharing To 6
It was a welcome redesign in time for the Google Play Family Library’s official start this month of July.
Now Google had their own Family Plans but it seemed to be limited to their Play Music service, but now a report from CNET has revealed that Google plans to expand beyond music and apply it to other areas.
Google Play Family Library will allow apps, games, music, movies and TV shows to be accessed by six family members. Keep in mind Google announced last December a different sharing program for Google Play Music.
Play Music Family Plans were launched September past year but we’ve been seeing the ‘Family’ category as early as June in 2015. A family payment method must be set up by one manager to allow future purchases and add more services.
The family library feature has been rolled out in select countries for now, which includes Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the US. In addition, the manager will need to input a credit card and is technically responsible for any purchases made through the account. Unfortunately, at the moment it’s unclear which countries will have access to the service first, and Google’s plans for expanding the feature’s reaches in additional regions are obviously unknown. You’ll then receive push notifications regarding your account, such as when holds are available for pick-up or what library events are upcoming. The best part? This entire platform is totally free to use.
