Google Translate Now Supports Visual Translation For 20 More Languages
If you travel internationally, you’re well aware that Google Translate’s visual translation features – which originated as the Word Lens app – are invaluable.
The Google Translate app already lets you instantly visually translate printed text in seven languages.
You have to see it to believe it. No Internet connection or cell phone data needed. Google has just announced that they’re sending out a pretty big update to the Google Translate application today, and in it users will get access to the expanded library of supported languages which Translate is able to immediately translate printed text from.
Watch Google’s video below to see how the Translate app keeps up with “La Bamba”. They added the following languages to it now; English and Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Filipino, Finnish, Hungarian, Indonesian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian. So no matter where you are or which country you’re visiting, you’ll always have a quick, mostly-reliable language translator, which now works in 27 different languages. Also, the update speeds up and smooths out real-time voice translations, even when you have a poor network connection.
And, finally, Google said that the app has been updated to run much more smoothly, and is now optimized to work better even on slower networks, which is important in countries where today’s fast LTE networks aren’t yet standard.
Both updates will roll out over the next few days.
