Google Unveils New ‘YouTube TV’ Streaming Service for $35 per Month
Google has announced a new service called the Youtube TV, at an event in Los Angeles yesterday.
So what does that mean? They tell us they want TV to be more like YouTube. You. can watch a demo for “YouTube TV” below.
– An unlimited DVR cloud makes YouTube TV the first OTT service to have this valuable feature.
Up to six different profiles will be allowed on every account, and shows will contain advertisements.
YouTube has unveiled details of its live OTT service, offering major USA networks ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, for $35 per month.
You can cancel the subscription any time.
There’s no release date for YouTube TV, though they said to expect a US launch in the “coming weeks and months”.
If you need yet another reason to cut the cord on your cable box, YouTube may have an option for you.
YouTube TV will also include access to all YouTube Red Originals, which are shows created by YouTube personalities that can only be accessed through a paid YouTube Red subscription ($10 per month). The advantage here is that this lets you save as many shows as you want without the content hogging data or space on your device.
And, you guessed it, YouTube TV is designed for millennials who are used to watching TV online instead of on traditional cable. Other channels like Showtime will be made available for an additional fee.
True to its digital roots, YouTube TV is created to be watched on mobile (Android or iOS), tablet or computer, and can be streamed on a television through Google Chromecast. So YouTube is going to have to compete with some similar services like Sling TV and PlayStation Vue.
Will YouTube TV become the next destination for live streaming?
According to Google, the service will stream to your TV using Google Chromecast.
YouTube has so far been associated with free content. Getting viewers to pay $35 dollars a month will be a tough task.
