Google updates Nexus line-up
Google on Tuesday finally unveiled its latest generation of Nexus phones at an event – the Nexus 5X from LG along with the Nexus 6P manufactured by Huawei.
The devices include features such as a fingerprint scanner, the new Nexus camera and Google’s new personal assistant Now on Tap.
Phones right now running on Android KitKat will get an upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, whereas the phones that have Android Lollipop might not get this upgrade.
The company also announced a new “Nexus Protect programme” for $89 that would provide two years of coverage for both mechanical problems and accidental damage. “FPC1025 supports 360 degree finger rotation capability, fast response time and industry leading 3D image quality”.
Nvidia is bringing its powerful Maxwell GPU architecture with its Tegra X1 chip to Google’s latest Android device, known as the Pixel C.
“We are very proud of the confidence the company has shown to us by integrating Precise BioMatch Mobile in two smartphones”.
Google launched two new devices in the Nexus lineup in an event at San Francisco yesterday. Many other phones, including Samsung’s flagship smartphones and phablets, support it as well.
The Nexus 5X starts at $379 while the Nexus 6P will be available starting at $499.
On the photography front, it is armed with a 12.3-megapixel camera with a Sony-made sensor that boasts large 1.55µm pixels and wide F/2.0 aperture. It comes with Nexus Imprint having an embedded fingerprint sensor on the back side. This number of active users is more than those using iOS and even Windows 10. Nexus 5X can also capture slow motion as well as 4K videos which makes this the most advanced Nexus phone. Priced at $499, preorder is already available in the United States, Ireland, Japan, and UK.
The Pixel C is Google’s new 10.2-inch tablet, that comes with an Nvidia X1 processor, 3 gigabytes of RAM, and Android Marshmallow. Fingerprint security is now available as well, so no need to remember passwords when unlocking Android devices or checking out on Android Pay or Google Play Store.
