Google Upgrades Play Books App For Comic Book Fans
In an update to Play Books from Google, enjoyers of comic books will find a new way to enjoy their reading on mobile devices.
This upgrade is comprised of two major parts that are designed with the comic book reader in mind – one that will impact the quality of the reader’s reading experience and one aimed organizing making it easier to keep your digital library in order. As is typical for Google, however, these updates aren’t officially live for everyone yet.
“Flip your device on its side and you can easily scroll through the story with quick vertical swipes”, said Greg Hartrell, Senior Product Manager at Google Play Books.
The update for Google Play Books will roll out in the USA, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, India, Singapore, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa in the next few days.
Reading comics (or graphic novels, if that’s more your thing) on small screens has never been ideal. Henceforth, users will be able to view a comic in “landscape mode” and vertically scroll as they read.
Of course, this is already available on other digital reading platforms. The app will also offer personalized recommendations to help fans find new stories based on their previous preferences.
Titles on Google Play Books available are from all the biggest publishers in the US including Marvel, DC Comics, Image, Dark Horse and IDW. Whether you’re a long-time fan or just starting out, our collections will have something great for you, with series like The Walking Dead, Justice League, Deadpool, and Mortal Kombat.
