GOP Candidates Ride Debate Momentum To Atlanta
Why should they, when the stupid leaders of the United States will do it for them?
I put no stock in PolitiFact, but I have great respect for Mark Krikorian, one of the immigration experts it interviewed.
Trump contended on CBS’ “Face the Nation” that it’s Bush who has the problem with women, thanks to a comment Bush made that last week when discussing cutting off federal money for Planned Parenthood. They got that he didn’t walk it back. Apparently as part of the spin effort, Trump is now scheduled to appear Sunday on ABC television on one of the top US current events programs, “This Week”. Though 17 individuals have entered the race to earn the Republican Party nomination in 2016, Fox News used a combination of 10 polls to determine which candidates merited a spot in the debate.
Carly Fiorina said Donald Trump’s comments about Megyn Kelly “were completely inappropriate and offensive” and were clearly meant to imply the Fox News host’s tough questions were a result of menstruation.
Asked about Kelly on a CNN interview on Friday, Trump said: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes”.
That remark cost Trump a prime-time speaking slot at the RedState Gathering, the Atlanta conference where several other presidential candidates spoke to about 1,000 conservative activists.
Trump has yet to respond, but judging by his past behaviour he is likely to weigh in.
Fiorina criticized Trump as having gotten angry at Kelly for questioning his comments about women, including calling those he disliked “fat pigs” and “slobs”.
Ten Republicans shared the stage, but Donald Trump drew most of the attention. You are hereby warned there may actually be a party called “Trump”. And he told CNN Friday that he was not concerned about increased interest in the former Hewlett-Packard CEO. “I was always thought Donald Trump was a little crude, but, more importantly, he’s not a good Republican“, Forte said. “There. Is. No. Excuse”.
“I think you can not have a president who is thin-skinned”.
WERTHEIMER: I can’t even repeat what you said about him.
Paul also continued a line of attack he began in the debate. I was going to say, nose, and/or ears. “I have no idea what his real philosophy is, other than that he is for promoting himself“.
Texas Republican senator Ted Cruz said he didn’t want to join in, but he added, “we’re not going to defeat the Washington Cartel by obsessing over the politics of personality”. “Do we want to insult 53 percent of our voters?” the former Florida governor told the RedState Gathering.
Other candidates bemoaned the challenge of preaching their message when all their precious free TV time is spent being asked about Trump. “He’ll get over that and we’ll be fine”. On Sunday, he took a more measured approach.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said he will let Trump answer for his own words.
Analysts were mixed on the issue of whether the debate performance will help or hurt the chances of Trump, who is leading in most recent opinion polls. “I don’t think anything“. “Not as late as I wanted to be”.
Trump had already called out the station’s moderators for asking “unfair” questions after Kelly brought up his use of derogatory language towards women in Twitter posts.
