GOP candidates ride debate momentum to RedState activists
In contrast to the Fox Information debates that divided the 17-candidate subject into two teams on crowded levels, the RedState Gathering in Atlanta provided a number of of these looking for the Republican nomination a half-hour all to themselves.
The Republican presidential candidates speaking at RedState are: Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen.
Republicans haven’t always done “a great job” in picking judges who, in his view, adhere to the Constitution and respect the rights of states and local governments, said Perry, the former governor of Texas.
Trump said it was an “honor” to be disinvited from the conservative gathering in Atlanta and that Erickson “has a history of supporting establishment losers in failed campaigns”.
The real estate mogul and reality television star remained unbowed, refusing to apologize for saying on CNN that Megyn Kelly, who aggressively questioned him during Thursday’s GOP primary debate, had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever” when she asked him about his incendiary comments toward women. “I haven’t seen a lot of that in this campaign”.
Her rivals are hoping that the first debates mean a fresh look for them, too. “The voters will determine who our nominee is”.
The RedState Gathering is slated to conclude with a “RedState Tailgate with Donald Trump” at the College Football Hall of Fame on Saturday evening. “I was up late last night”, Perry said.
However Perry campaigned as if he was one of many social gathering’s top-tier candidates, declaring that his 14 years as governor in Texas show he is worthy of a promotion.
But arguably the payoff will be hour-long speeches from the would-be White House residents, kicking off with an address by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Friday morning.
“I was an underdog against (former Florida Gov.) Charlie Crist and I was trailing by 40 points in the polls”, he said. Rubio was comfortable with the gang and recalled his first go to with the conservative activists in 2010, when he was a longshot Senate candidate in Florida. “That’s why I’m running for president of the United States”. He fielded questions about how Southern conservatives can connect with his boisterous Jersey personality and said that Americans from all regions care about a sound economy, national security and individual liberty.
Sharpest jab at a Democrat: Talking about Obama changing his view on gay marriage: “Either he was lying then, or he’s lying now or the Bible got rewritten and he’s the only one who got the new edition, and I don’t think that’s the case”. “How about listening to this accent for eight years?”
