GOP congressman unlikely to vote for Trump
Trump responds by saying that Obama and Hillary Clinton are unfit to serve.

Speaking alongside Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in the White House East Room, Obama said there are now weekly episodes in which even Republican party leaders distance themselves from Trump.

“I like Paul, but these are disgusting times for our country”, Trump told The Washington Post on Tuesday.
Pence said he spoke with Trump Wednesday morning “about my support for Paul Ryan and our longtime friendship”. Trump is backed by all but two vulnerable GOP senators – Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, who is still in a “wait-and-see” mode, and Mark Kirk of IL, who withdrew his endorsement after Trump’s attacks on a USA judge of Mexican heritage.
Controversy surrounding the fallen soldier began after his father, Khizr Khan, blasted Trump as unpatriotic and selfish in a speech at the Democratic National Convention over the billionaire’s statements against immigrants and Muslims.
The Republican Party has not yet come close to abandoning Trump’s candidacy: Most of the lawmakers who have denounced him for fighting with the Khans have not said they will vote against him in the general election. “I said nice things about the son and I feel that very strongly but of course I was hit very hard from the stage and you know it’s just one of those things but no I don’t regret anything”, he said.
President Obama recalled his policy battles with Sen.
“This is different than just having policy disagreements”.
“I don’t doubt their sincerity, I don’t doubt they’re outraged”, the President went on.
Trump’s comments appeared to represent the most dramatic break yet with a Republican establishment whose support for their presidential nominee has been reluctant at best.
Late on Tuesday, Meg Whitman, a prominent Republican fundraiser and chief executive of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, endorsed Clinton’s White House bid, calling Trump an “authoritarian character” and a threat to democracy.
While Obama has always been critical of Trump, his blistering condemnation Tuesday was a notable escalation of his involvement in the presidential race.

Groups formed to support Ms. Clinton include Republicans for Her 2016, run by Republican lobbyist Craig Snyder; a grassroots organisation called R4C16, led by John Stubbs and Ricardo Reyes, officials in former President George W. Bush’s administration; and the Republican Women for Hillary group.
