GOP establishment concedes uphill battle to win NH, Iowa
Ted Cruz atop preference polls in Iowa.
Both Cruz and Trump were campaigning on Tuesday in New Hampshire, which holds the second contest in the country’s primary season. “That’s not what Ronald Reagan did”. He continued, referring to Cruz as a “great hypocrite” for failing to disclose loans from Goldman Sachs and Citibank in an FEC filing.
Limbaugh said that it is undeniable that Cruz has made enemies even in his own party, but that he is not a “nasty guy”. Cruz tried to turn the insult into a joke on Tuesday, posting a message on Twitter saying Americans feel “nasty” toward the “Washington Cartel”.
In regards to their tight battle when it comes to the polls, Cruz stated that Trump is a bit “rattled” with the results most especially in some areas wherein Cruz would take the lead, “I guess as conservatives continue to unite behind our campaign as his poll numbers continue to go down, that seems to be – he’s a little testy”. “For whatever reason he is very, very dismayed”. And he offered another one here on Monday, pointing to his pledge to cancel the country’s nuclear accord with Iran – which Trump has said in the past that he merely wants to honor and improve.
“My views are a little bit different than if I lived in Iowa”, Mr Trump said at the time.
“And Mr. Trump argued that Obamacare should be expanded to make it socialized medicine”, he added. “They’ve learned over and over again, politicians don’t tell us the truth”, amidst the reference of an interview Trump gave several years ago in which he laid out his support for abortion rights. This being said, Trump pointed out that Cruz isn’t a “natural-born Citizen” which is one of the qualifications needed to run for office.
“You know in terms of a commander-in-chief, I think we ought to have someone who isn’t springing out of bed and tweeting in response to the latest polls”.
The conservative National Review shot back that “Cruz played Trump like a fiddle”. “Instead, they want a principled, steady, conservative leader who will do everything necessary to protect this nation and keep America safe”.
The video, from the YouTube channel “Real Americans 4 Real Presidents”, which is not affiliated with the Trump campaign, highlights an apparent contrast between Cruz’s support for the policy in 2011 – when he said it was a “mistake” to try to fight birthright citizenship – and comments he made in 2015, insisting he has opposed it “for many years”.
