GOP in Panic Over Trump
As the leading Republican presidential candidates rant and rave about deporting 11 million immigrants, fighting some kind of world war against Islam, implementing gimmicky tax plans that would bankrupt the nation and other such madness, keep one thing in mind: The party establishment brought this plague upon itself. That was down from a peak of 43 percent among Republicans registered on November 22. “I don’t even mention him anymore”, Trump said. I do remember images of celebrations in so-called moderate Muslim countries, but also some here in the US too – you can’t tell me there weren’t.
Trump told journalists that a “Muslim database” would be a good way for the French to respond to the attacks. Or could the efforts of a “takedown team” formed by donors to some of Trump’s more moderate rivals be making themselves felt?
I’m not afraid of Donald Trump.
The billionaire businessman’s Thanksgiving weekend event came amid mounting criticism over his apparent taunting of a New York Times reporter’s physical appearance. “If I’m treated fairly, I’m fine”. She waited in line for another two hours to see the former host of television’s The Apprentice speak in a city that, by coincidence, was once the winter home of the Ringling Brothers Circus. Another Bush? I don’t think so.
“Worldwide, the Muslims were absolutely going wild”, the real estate mogul said at a campaign rally in Sarasota, Florida.
Donald Trump is a bigot. And the worst part is that you get in trouble if you say any of the stuff that you know everyone else is already thinking about this claptrap.
Some of those attending Trump’s appearance in Columbus Monday voted for Kasich for governor again a year ago, but won’t do so when it comes to president.
There were helicopter rides for the kids, people posing for pictures with an elephant and a crowd so large thousands could not get into Robarts Arena as the Trump Show descended on the Sarasota Fairgrounds Saturday. Perhaps in an homage to the city’s circus heritage, an elephant was paraded around with Trump’s name painted on its side.
This is the first poll taken since Trump called for Mosques to be closed and requiring Muslims to carry special ID cards like Jews in Germany in the 1930’s. “Don’t hurt the person”.
Trump supporters are almost all white, like the supporters of the other GOP candidates. Trump organizers distributed about 10 VIP passes to African American pastors. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are tied for third place at just over 8 percent a piece, and Jeb Bush is in fourth place, with the support of 7 percent of Republican voters.
The crowd roared and chanted “Trump, Trump, Trump”.
Trump’s primary competitors are Carson, who is black, and Cruz and Rubio, who are both Cuban-American. Trump seemed to give tacit approval to using the threat of a shutdown as leverage in striking a budget deal.
Trump’s assertions about Muslims celebrating in 2001 have been fact-checked and discredited by law enforcement and government officials who were in New Jersey in the days and weeks after the terrorist attacks.
Support for US presidential hopeful Donald Trump among Republicans has dropped by 12 points in just a week, according to a recent survey.
