Gophers volleyball: 3 selected preseason all-Big Ten

The announcement completes Purdue’s 31-game regular-season schedule that tips off November 11, against McNeese State in Mackey Arena. After claiming their fourth national title last season, the Huskers top the preseason poll for the first time since 2012.

The Big Ten Conference announced the complete 2016-17 league schedule on Thursday, which includes 18 Big Ten games for the Wisconsin men’s basketball team. Purdue swept the Badgers last season, but Wisconsin returns nearly everyone from last year’s Sweet 16 team. Under Gard, the Badgers rallied to finish the regular season in a tie for third place in the Big Ten standings and made a run to the Sweet 16 in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. IL rounds out the top 5 in the 14-team league’s poll. UW faces Iowa, Maryland, Northwestern and Penn State only at the Kohl Center this season. In conference-only matches, she led the league with a.432 hitting percentage and ranked seventh in the Big Ten with 1.23 blocks per set.

The league also released a preseason All-Big Ten team.

Nebraska had begun the previous two Big Ten seasons with home games, including two straight home game to begin last season.

Nebraska and Minnesota each had three players on the preseason team.

I chose Penn State because I expected junior quarterback Christian Hackenberg and the offense to finally step up and upset a ranked team, but they never followed through because the offensive line struggled and the receivers weren’t helpful to take pressure off of him.
