GoPros can now broadcast live via Periscope
The GoPro team said it plans to broadcast live with Periscope at the upcoming X Games in Aspen, Colorado. [+] TWITTER: You can choose to share your Periscope broadcasts on Twitter by tapping the bird icon before you start broadcasting. Periscope today announced that it’s integrating with GoPro to allow its users to broadcast live from these popular action cameras. For this, GoPro and Periscope have been working together, so everything should run smoothly.

And while you can easily latch your phone onto a selfie stick to get a seemingly wider shot, you won’t be able to read the comments or questions that are coming in from your viewers at a distance. Sure, you could find a rugged mount and case enclosure for your iPhone and achieve the same, but it’s far easier to use a GoPro. The integration, which now works on iOS with the GoPro Hero 4 Black and Hero 4 Silver, allows Periscope to recognize a GoPro whenever one is connected to an iPhone. However, GoPro clarifies that Periscope footage from its cameras can be viewed on every platform. Check out GoPro’s site for more information. As Periscope noted in its announcement, users who were previously attaching their iPhones to drones and balloons – or submerging them under water – can now switch to GoPro as a much more reliable option. Hopefully. We’ll see soon. For now, the new feature is only available for iPhone or iPad owners.
During a broadcast, it is also possible to toggle between the GoPro HERO 4 and the iPhone’s own camera, opening new opportunities for a multi-camera arrangement.
You won’t get to experience any competition moments on Periscope, but you will see a few interesting complementary video moments. While GoPro offers high-quality video, streaming at 720p30, smartphones are usually limited to lower-quality images. Will you use the live streaming capability of Periscope using GoPro?
