GOT Author George Martin Trashes Rumours About Film Adaptation
“Author George R.R. Martin has responded to rumors about a coming ‘Game of Thrones” movie.
With the recent news that scientists have discovered signs of water on Mars, Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin chimed in on the planet’s relevance to his life in an essay for the Guardian.
Martin’s assistant said in an email to the Huffington Post that the statements attributed to the writer of the Daily Star article – which were allegedly made at the HBO’s Emmy after-party – are “not direct quotes”. On Martin’s blog, “Not a Blog” under the post “Bummer”, a fan had asked if the report was true.
“No one is working on any movie just now…”, he continues. “And if there was a movie, it would not be about Robert’s Rebellion”, said the famous author.
So, they said the idea might likely work as the audiences will get to witness the season finale of “Game of Thrones” in big screens. “Don’t believe everything you read, boys and girls”.
An HBO representative added that what was reported was “not at all correct”.
“Yes, I said ‘coloring book.’ Not just for the kiddies either”. Rumors is all they were. No, it seems that of late adult colouring books have become quite the thing, so Bantam wanted us to do one too. Of course I liked the idea. Let me state, yet again, that while I love this idea, it did NOT originate with me.
The “nonsense” began a few days ago when The Daily Star broke “news” that Martin had supposedly divulged information about the film adaptation to a conveniently unnamed insider.
“It was a notion suggested to me, which I have enthusiastically endorsed”.
The sixth book in “A Song of Ice and Fire” is still being penned; the sixth season of “Game of Thrones” is still in production.
If you are a fan of “Game of Thrones” and were expecting a film on the popular TV series, the night is dark and full of disappointments.
But there is a creative challenge involved in making the leap, plus a sense among fans that they’ve been cheated: Oh, we didn’t wrap the series!
