‘Gotham’ nabs Paul Reubens to play The Penguin’s father
But his father hasn’t been mentioned much if at all.
Returning to a character he’s played before but on an entirely new show, Paul Reuben is reprising his role as the Penguin’s father on Gotham.
Paul Reubens of Pee-Wee Herman fame, will star as The Penguin’s father, Tucker Cobblepot. “What the hell? Oh my God!” the actor told the crowd, according to Variety. Unfortunately, there’s no details on how big Reubens’ role will be or how the character will be introduced.
Other DC universe credits include voicing Bat-Mite on animated series “Batman: fearless and the Bold”.
There are a pair of separate highlights to share today when it comes to “Gotham” holding a brand-new panel at New York Comic-Con, and we start with the realm of the Penguin. If you’ve missed any of the new episodes or just need a refresher, be sure to check out our weekly Gotham recaps. Would it be too meta to get Gary Oldman to play Ben McKenzie’s dad for a flashback?
Reubens’s first stint as the Penguin’s father was way back in 1992. “Batman Returns” was the second Batman film directed by Tim Burton and also starred Michael Keaton. Unreal. I have the best tv parents.
Gotham fans were also treated to a spoiler-filled sizzle reel at NYCC this weekend, featuring plenty of another new cast member, Michael Chiklis.
“Gotham” airs Mondays on Fox at 8 p.m. EDT.
