Gov. Kasich, state officials to help open Ohio State Fair
John Kasich (KAY’-sik) plans to join state officials to help kick off the Ohio State Fair. The event marked the entry of a strong-willed and sometimes abrasive governor into a nomination race that now has 16 notable Republicans.
Despite his position at the top of the poll, Mr. Trump is viewed unfavorably by 59 percent of those questioned while just 27 percent approve.
“I think the impact of his advertising can’t be underestimated”, said GOP consultant Fergus Cullen, noting the Kasich commercials have been far more successful than the only other candidate on the New Hamphire airwaves this early, Chris Christie.
As budget chairman in the House, he became an architect of a deal in 1997 that balanced the federal budget.
“But not too busy to come and see you”, Kasich replied.
Kasich’s wild card could be Ohio itself, Matthews said. “We just had to use a 21st century formula”.
First, however, he will have to survive a final batch of national polls, which could determine whether he makes it onstage with Donald Trump, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and the other Republican frontrunners — or is stuck at the kids table: a pre-debate candidate forum.
As a marching band kept up a spritely cadence before Kasich spoke, scores of demonstrators gathered across the street to protest his cuts to the budget and to school districts specifically, as well as his closing of centers for people with development disabilities. And 12 percent said they hadn’t decided yet.
Kasich embraces conservative ideals but bucks his party on occasion and disdains the Republican sport of bashing Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The poll suggests that likely voters are not that thrilled with any of the presidential candidate as all held higher negative then favorable opinions except for Sanders who had a 33% favorable and 32% unfavorable opinion.
The Washington, D.C. publication, which received an advanced notice of documents about the organization, reported that the organization raised more than $11 million between April 20 and June 30 of this year.
