Gov. Wolf To Undergo Treatment For Prostate Cancer
Gov. Tom Wolf maintained an optimistic and self-deprecating tone Wednesday as he announced his prostate cancer diagnosis. The Governor also used the diagnoses to remind everyone to get regular check ups in an effort to detect any possible cancer at an early stage. He will receive treatment starting in the next few weeks, after taking some time to spend with his family, and will continue over the course of the coming months.
He added that the treatments will last for the next several months.
He does not know much about the treatment, but said it is not of major concern.
“Of course, I was concerned when I first heard”, she said at the press conference.
The 67-year-old Democrat said on Wednesday that the cancer was detected early by his doctors during a routine checkup.
Governor Wolf and his wife Frances sat down in Harrisburg to share something very personal with Pennsylvanians: he has prostate cancer. “Being reassured by the physicians that it was early and treatable and a really good prognosis, I think we have great courage and feel all right”.
There are a variety of treatments for prostate cancer, but the governor didn’t want to discuss his specific treatment, except to say it isn’t chemo therapy.
Wolf did not say what type of treatment he would receive, but insisted it would be “routine”.
Groen commended Wolf “for using his treatable case to shed light on the importance of preventative care, and we encourage everyone to schedule regular medical checkups”.
