Governor Mike Pence Issues Executive Order to Arm National Guard
Saturday, Gov. Scott rolled out a new executive order, moving some military recruiters until security is improved at recruitment centers in the state. “While it is uncertain as to whether this legislation would have made an impact in this particular situation, it is clear that our military personnel have become targets, not just overseas, but on American soil as well”.
The Governors office told Breitbart Texas that the Adjutant General John Nichols and the Commanders of the Texas National Guard & Air National Guard will work out the specifics.
In Section. 1 of the Order, summarized above, Gov. Scott says that National Guardsman are “targeted by ISIS along with other United States military personnel”.
The Governor’s executive order directs Florida Adjunct General, Michael Calhoun to take three immediate actions.
“There are no words to describe our shock, horror, and grief”, said the statement, provided to the Associated Press by a lawyer representing the family of Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, who was killed by police.
No word on any facilities that have requested National Guard protection.
“We’ve got to understand that you know we have people in our country that want to harm the military”, Scott said in an interview with CNN.
His executive order also requested all members of the Florida National Guard be armed.
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, whose office issues concealed weapons permits, said Saturday that “we look forward to expediting” the applications of National Guard personnel.
By definition, they need to be welcoming and open.
Mike Pence authorized the arming of soldiers at Indiana National Guard facilities and recruiting sites statewide.
