The collaborators beat out the likes of Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar, and also snagged the award for best pop duo/group performance earlier in the evening.

Kendrick Lamar had a show-stopping moment when he took the stage at the Grammy Awards, but Adele’s performance didn’t match the greatness of her past live efforts.

The song was EVERYWHERE a year ago; “Uptown Funk” spent fourteen consecutive weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in several other countries including Belgium, Australia, Canada, France, Ireland and New Zealand.
British alternative rock outfit Muse took home the best rock album award with “Drones“.
This year, Lamar has a chance to make history: His Pharrell-produced “Alright” could be the first-ever hip-hop track to win song of the year in the Grammys’ 58-year history.
– Best musical theater album: “Hamilton”. Despite its massive commercial success, 25 wasn’t eligible for Grammy consideration this year, because it came out in November; only albums released between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2015 were considered.

And for the same reasons, much of what is dominating the current cultural conversation – Beyonce’s “Formation” video and her performance at the Super Bowl, Kanye West and Rihanna’s recent albums – had no chance of making an imprint at this year’s awards ceremony. She was joined by guitarist and producer Nile Rodgers on the last two.
Accompanied by a major promotional campaign, 1989 was the top-selling album for the year.
