Grand Jury Investigating Planned Parenthood Indicts Accusers Instead
Anderson’s jurisdiction includes Harris County and Houston. Recently, Planned Parenthood announced it was filing a civil suit in California against the individuals associated with the Center for Medical Progress who made the videos.
“Woke up in SUCH a good mood this morning, remembering Daleiden’s indictment”, a student editor at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill tweeted Tuesday, along with emojis of fingernails being painted, a girl dancing and the hand signal for power. “As I stated at the outset of this investigation, we must go where the evidence leads us”.
Anderson oversaw a previous abortion-related grand jury investigation of Houston abortionist Douglas Karpen after Operation Rescue released evidence in the form of photos and witness testimony that abortions babies were being born alive during abortions and intentionally killed by twisting their necks. “I respect their decision on this hard case”, the Chronicle reported.
Shortly after reporting that Planned Parenthood was suing anti-abortion activist David Daleiden and his Irvine-based front group the Center for Medical Progress, one of his representatives contacted the Weekly about covering his client’s attempt to supply “evidence” to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of a controversial law in Texas that, opponents say, gets in the way of women having abortions.
Daleiden also is charged with trying to purchase human organs, namely fetal tissue, a Class A misdemeanor.
Yesterday, a spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, the affiliate involved in the Daleiden case, denied that the organization is trafficking in aborted fetal body parts. “Kansas is a pro-life state and we will continue to stand up for the most vulnerable among us”. Robert Dear, the alleged shooter in the November rampage at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood rampage reportedly told officers “no more baby parts”, a slogan many have speculated was inspired by the undercover videos. Now, in Texas, Governor Greg Abbott says he will continue the investigation despite the grand jury’s indictment.
Others noted that an indictment is not a guilty verdict and that Planned Parenthood will have questions to answer during the course of the trial.
“The fact remains that the videos exposed the horrific nature of abortion and the shameful disregard for human life of the abortion industry”, Paxton said.
The Republican Party’s website refers to the committee’s work as the “House Planned Parenthood investigation”. They can either turn themselves into the Houston court, where they each face a $10,000 bail, or they could be extradited to Harris County, the lawyer said.
“Today we see that the truth still matters”, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Illinois, said in a statement.
A grand jury has indicted two anti-abortion activists who made undercover videos alleging Planned Parenthood illegally sold fetal tissue to researchers for a profit, and said the abortion provider committed no wrong.
After all, they cited these videotapes when calling to end the use of fetal tissue in medical research and ban abortions after 20 weeks.
Evidently, according to Breen anyway, if undercover activists gain access to a private medical facility using fake IDs, the government shouldn’t be concerned – at least so long as that facility belongs to Planned Parenthood.
The videos were edited and in some cases contained footage that was not aborted fetuses at all.
The “extremists” behind the videos “spent three years creating a fake company, creating fake identities, lying, and breaking the law”, said Eric Ferrero, vice president of communications for Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
The indictments follow a federal racketeering lawsuit Planned Parenthood filed in California earlier this month naming CMP and the activists charged in Harris County this week as defendants.
