Grand Theft Auto 5 celebrates Gay Pride with touching Orlando tribute

The attack at the Pulse nightclub in Florida saw 49 people killed by gunman Omar Mateen. This inclusive mod adds an a massive pride parade to downtown Los Santos, the Los Angeles-like city GTA V is set in.

“Los Santos Pride is a pro-bono project with no financial incentive or other benefits for anyone involved”, creator Sedir Ajeenah told the Daily Dot.

It was the deadliest mass shooting in recent U.S. history and also left 53 people injured.

It has also been programmed so the parade itself can not be attacked, which is for the best considering the violent nature of GTA5.

However, Mr Valtersson explained developers have designed the modification so that people taking part in the virtual parade can not be killed.

The trailer for the mod shows everything from rainbow-adorned dogs to fist-pumping crowds and picket signs with positive messages like “Love comes in all colors” and “Love is in the air”.

While we’re sure their hearts are in the right place, it’s easy to argue that Grand Theft Auto is perhaps one of the most improbable – perhaps even inadvisable – franchises to incorporate a Pride parade into its gameplay; certainly one that claiming to be a tribute to Orlando.

Perhaps the most wonderful thing about this mod is how it will potentially allow any LGBTQIA+ people who are unable to go to a pride parade in real life to still experience one in some way.
