Grand Theft Water: Tom Selleck Busted For Stealing H2O
ACTOR Tom Selleck, the moustachioed star of Magnum PI, Three Men and a Baby and the cult Tumblr blog “Selleck Waterfall Sandwich”, has been accused of filching water from a public hydrant to irrigate his sprawling Southern California ranch.
According to Calleguas Municipal Water District, a tanker truck dispatched hydrant waters more than dozens of times for Selleck’s ranch in Westlake Village, where he reportedly grows avocados.
California is in the middle of a relentless drought that has been going on for four years and communities have been ordered to cut water use by 25 percent compared with 2013.
The complaint added the location of the water hydrant was in a different area than the water district that serves the actor’s ranch.

The water district pulled out all the stops and even spent $22,000 on a private investigator to document the alleged water thieving.
Attempts to reach Selleck through his representatives were not immediately successful Wednesday. An aerial photo from the real estate site Zillow this week did not show the property as “particularly lush”, with a swathe of “fairly dense” trees and shrubbery and “plenty of brown grass”, Courthouse News Service reported.
A road sign warned residents heading into Rancho Santa Fe, California of water restrictions for their yards due to the devastating drought, June 24, 2015.
Authorities said Selleck, who now stars on “Blue Bloods“, and his wife are prohibited from using the hydrant’s water because their home is located in the Hidden Valley Municipal Water District. She said she’s seen a big construction truck drive by on multiple mornings over the years around 6am to fill up a huge tank on the back.
No comment yet from Selleck – but he isn’t the only big name being drought-shamed during the water crisis.
It appears the theft is less the issue than the county line: Selleck is stealing from Thousand Oaks when he lives in Hidden Valley.
