Grandmaster Flash lost three ‘irreplaceable’ crates of vintage vinyl in auto
In a bid to solve the Flash-look-a-like crisis and save his precious vinyl, the turntable maestro has been turning not only to the authorities, but to his fans as well.
Rap pioneer Grandmaster Flash has lost his treasured collection of vinyl records after a valet car-parking mix-up earlier this month.
The DJ had collected some of the lost records over 40 years ago. How do you replace that?
The attendant, who has reportedly now been fired, allegedly told the rapper that he handed over the keys to a man identical to him except for his shoes.
Police are treating the incident as a theft.
There have been no sightings yet of his auto which he describes as – “a white 2014 Dodge Charger – reconstructed to look like a racing vehicle, with very valuable wheels and ground effects”.
He had the records in the back of his auto, which has yet to be found, as he is now working as an adviser on Baz Lurhmann’s upcoming Netflix drama The Get Down, about the origins of hip-hop in the 1970s. “And he’s such a genius with the camera and content. He wants to glorify that time”.
A legend in the hip-hop world, Grandmaster Flash is considered by many to be the founding father of the genre.
His hits include The Message, White Lines and The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash.
The band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
Brooklyn Bowl has not commented on whether there will be any changes to Grandmaster Flash’s set.
