Grandson Charged in Decapitation Murders at Oklahoma Daycare
A 20-year-old Oklahoma City man has been charged with murder after the decapitated bodies of his grandparents were found inside a home daycare, according to local media reports.
Police responded to the home Tuesday afternoon, after concerned neighbors called authorities to check on James Reed, 78, and his wife Sharon, 59, Sgt. Ashley Peters said.
The Associated Press left a message seeking further comment from Peters on Wednesday morning.
When Oklahoma City police officials arrived at the Reed’s residence, they discovered their decapitated bodies in the home, but that’s not all that was discovered.
She said Laster spoke to a neighbor after the crime, leading the neighbor to ask police to check on the couple.
The children were later reunited with their families. When Laster obliged, the neighbor told Laster that he “need to call 911 if you’ve done that, ‘ and he said, ‘I’m thinking about it.’ I said, ‘Thinking about it?”
It was not immediately clear whether Laster had retained a lawyer.
NBC affiliate KFOR-TV reports that Laster was taken into custody outside the couple’s home, where officers had gone to conduct a welfare check requested by neighbors. Laster surrendered without incident after police arrived. He was later arrested on two complaints of first-degree murder.
