‘Granny Ripper’ suspected of multiple killings in Russian Federation
The 67-year-old former hotel worker is claimed to have entered details of her secret life in diaries she kept in different languages.
Russian officers are now busily comparing Samsonova’s diary entries with unsolved murder cases that fit the signature style of the Granny Ripper murders: dismembered victims with body parts left in black plastic bags all around the city.
More than a simple suspect, authorities uncovered CCTV footage, which allegedly showed Samsonova carrying a black plastic bag filled with the body parts.
The local branch of the Investigative Committee announced Tuesday that Tamara Samsonova, 68, was suspected of killing a 79-year-old acquaintance and then chopping up the body and leaving its dismembered corpse near a scenic neighborhood pond.
An elderly woman has confessed in her diary to killing at least 10 people over the last 20 years.
A 68-year-old Russian woman originally arrested for the alleged killing and dismembering of a neighbour may actually have had a dozen other victims.
Some have called her crimes “Nightmare on Dimitrova Street”.
Various media reports have described two murders – in 2000 and 2003 – both of which allegedly occurred in Samsonova’s apartment, and both of which ended with the bodies being chopped into pieces.
When police came to the victim’s flat, they found Samsonova, blood stains in the bathroom and a saw.
In 2005, Samsonova reported her own husband as a missing person.
Police continue to investigate the diary, but have already charged Samsonova with the murder of a 44-year-old man who had rented a room from her.
Fontanka.ru reported that she is now being investigated for 13 additional murders as well.
She reportedly admits committing the crimes but without going into detail.
After her arrest, she told police she was a former actress and a graduate of the Vaganov ballet academy, but later admitted to her real Soviet-era past as a floor lady monitoring guests at one of the city’s leading hotels.
