Green Bay Packers hit ground running for training camp
Of the two, McBryde spent the most time in Green Bay.
And it’s no surprise that Rodgers is the most important.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy believes Aaron Rodgers is in the best shape of his career.
The Green Bay Packers have released RB Don Jackson and DE B.J. McBryde. “I would say this is the best shape I’ve seen him in”. The first padded workout is scheduled for Thursday, the third practice of camp. With so many professional football players still healing in June, the potential for abiding the dilemma was intense.
“So we’ll start that tonight, foot on the gas and get that done”, McCarthy said. A couple years ago, I missed pretty much 90 percent of training camp and came back a week before the regular season and had a good year. “But that’s usually not the case”. They can be activated at any time during the preseason, but once the regular season starts, players still on the list must sit out at least the first six weeks before being eligible to return.
McBryde, a 6-foot-5, 303-pound first-year player out of the University of CT, had been with the Packers since being signed to the practice squad on November 18, 2015.
– Despite the possibility of injury, a fact driven home by Nelson’s injury past year, McCarthy is embracing playing in the Hall of Fame Game and the resulting five-game preseason.
NOTES: McCarthy didn’t seem anxious when asked about the NFL’s plan to interview defensive stars Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers about a media report that linked them to the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
“I would say Aaron’s vibe, and really his offseason participation and performance, looks to line up for a great year”.
