Green scores 16 points and Grizzlies hold off Knicks 91-85
The over has been profitable for bettors when the Grizzlies and Knicks play, which will be the case tonight at 7:30PM ET at Madison Square Garden.
Jeff Green has become the NBA’s hottest sixth man over the past five games. The Grizzlies won 91-85. “.He made some rebounds in traffic (against Memphis) that I haven’t seen anybody make in the last seven-plus years”. Green converted two free throws with 6.2 seconds left to seal the win.
While the New York Knicks have received a nice little boost from Langston Galloway and Aaron Aflalo, Phil Jackson still wants an upgrade in the back court, especially at the point guard position. “It just went in-and-out”. “I had a lot of space and when it left my hand it felt good”. Center Marc Gasol led Memphis with 22 points and six rebounds. “I think Devin being out hurt us the entire time”. We didn’t get too insane. We made free throws.
Certainly, when you get your manhood knocked in the dirt like that, it’s enough to make fans wonder if this team really has any chance at all to make noise in the playoffs.
Deron Williams scored 22 points and Nowitzki finished with 18. The Grizzlies then carried their momentum into the second frame and extended their lead to 50-40 at the intermission.
The teams exchanged leads through much of the second half. The Dallas Mavericks are averaging 100.4 points on 43.8 percent shooting and allowing 100.9 points on 44.7 percent shooting.
Maybe they can’t, but perhaps it is time for Knicks president Phil Jackson to lean on Anthony – and Fisher – and make sure all are on the same page.
The game was tied at 62 late in the third quarter when the Griz scored seven straight points to take a cushion into the final frame.
The first quarter was very disjointed and sloppy with a combined eight turnovers, half of which were offensive fouls.
“Give the Knicks credit. It’s what they’re here to do, and they do a good job of it”.
When healthy, Anthony is still one of the best players in the National Basketball Association and the focal point of the Knicks offense.
Grizzlies: The Grizzlies host the Mavericks on Saturday night and are playing their first back-to-back games of 2016. Dallas leads the season series 1-0 after a 102-93 home win on November 20. Robin Lopez is the only Knick to start all 53 games this season. Vujacic hit both shots to bring the Knicks within 71-64. The Knicks were shorthanded and again played without top scorer Carmelo Anthony, who missed the teams’ first meeting. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. CT, airing locally on Fox Sports Southwest and 103.3 FM ESPN.
