Greg Oden signs with Jiangsu Dragons of Chinese Basketball Association
After no NBA teams took the bait on his attempted comeback bid this offseason, Oden is heading overseas to play in the Chinese Basketball Association next year.
Greg Oden has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Jiangsu Tigers in China.
Oden will sign with the Dragons for a reported one-year, $1.2 million contract, Real GM reported earlier this week. The injuries have limited him to a total of just 105 games since the 2008-09 season. There he was hoped to serve as a Roy Hibbert antidote of sorts, but instead went kaput with 2.9 points per game and 2.3 rebounds per game in just 23 apperances. Despite all the knee problems and reports of depression that came with them, Oden had an opportunity on a team that badly needed size to build himself into a niche. Oden at one point was considered a can’t miss prospect and even was considered by some to be the next Shaquille O’Neal but that unfortunately never materialized. As he continues his professional career in basketball, we can only hope that he manages to stay healthy and that he’s able to unlock his full potential.
