Grey’s Anatomy: Arizona’s getting a new love interest!
Series creator Shonda Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly that actress Jessica Capshaw will have to miss out on the first couple of episodes of the upcoming season.
“We’re absolutely going to see it”, says Rhimes, and she is pretty excited about how this new love will let Arizona be “who she is” and show what has changed in her after her failed relationships on Grey’s Anatomy. According to recent reports, Jessica Capshaw’s Arizona will not be seen in the first few episodes of Season 13 because the actress is taking some time off to take care of her newly born fourth child. She explained that the new season will show the development of the long-time relationships in the series.
Word is out that Arizona will find love in Grey’s Anatomy Season 13, and it seems like this time she will be getting the “right” one. In the previous season, Arizona was seen randomly dating various women after she divorced Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez).
Although Rhimes has clearly expressed her excitement for the matter, the exec remained quiet about the identity of Arizona’s potential lover. Then Maggie revealed that “she really, really likes Riggs, ‘ and she thinks he likes her too”.
As part of Callie’s endeavor to move on, she will be moving to NY. Moreover, Rhimes told the news outlet that she wants audiences to be rooting for the upcoming couple. Callie’s exit will not be a “sense of loss” for fans of “Grey’s Anatomy” unlike the other characters who have died during the long-running series’ course.
“In our world, Callie still exists”, she says and teases what could possibly be a chance for a guest appearance of Ramirez visiting from NY.
Sources said that Ramirez was just on a “welcome break” in the previous season and can possibly return for the next one. There were rumors that Sandra Oh’s Cristina Yang will return to the show but Wetpaint dismissed those claims, saying that the actress and the writers wrapped Cristina’s story perfectly by announcing her departure a whole season in advance.
It doesn’t take much convincing to make the argument that this past season of “Grey’s Anatomy” was among one of the more emotional ones to date for Jackson and April.
