Grief Crystallizes as Victims of Rampage Identified

Skip Wells was exchanging text messages with his girlfriend when the Chattanooga shooting occurred.

Andy Kingery, a spokesman for the Wells family, said Monday there have been no funeral arrangements planned for the Marine yet. “Skip died doing what he chose to do and was fully aware of the dangers of putting on a uniform”.

Wells attended Georgia State University and had just completed boot camp, the station reported.

Thousands of mourners gathered in Georgia on Tuesday night at a memorial service for US Marine Lance Corporal Squire K. “Skip” Wells, the youngest of five US servicemen killed when a gunman opened fire on military offices in Tennessee.

Jerry Sullivan, a Hungry Hill kid at heart, was stunned by the document, sent by USA military officials to let the Sullivans know that their middle child had been killed for reasons yet unknown. The paper adds: “He said he did not wish to make any other comment other than: ‘He was fighting for his country.’ “. “He was already fantastic as a person”, Mathis said.

Reached by phone, the slain Marine’s father said he wasn’t ready to talk yet, and his grandmother declined to comment as well.

The recruiting center sits in a short strip mall, between a cellphone business and an Italian restaurant, with no apparent special security. He’d served three tours of duty and been decorated with the Navy Marine Corps achievement medal. All the dead were killed there.
