Griffin injured hand in Toronto restaurant fight with team employee
Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin has missed the last month with a quadriceps injury, but by traveling with his team during its recent Eastern road swing, it was assumed that the forward was soon to return.
“A situation among friends escalated, and I regret the way I handled myself towards someone I care about, “Griffin said in a statement posted to Twitter. You come into the game and you have a lead and you think you’re going to add to the lead instead of understanding the way we got the lead was because we were getting stops”.
Griffin has sustained a fractured right hand after he punched Matias Testi, the team’s assistant equipment manager, at a restaurant during the team’s visit to Toronto this past weekend, where the Raptors defeated the Clippers 112-94 Sunday.
The Los Angeles Clippers have announced power forward Blake Griffin will be out for four to six weeks following surgery on his right hand.
Coach Doc Rivers indicated the team would make a statement on the issue prior to their Tuesday night game against the Indiana Pacers. They said an investigation is ongoing and being done with assistance from the National Basketball Association. “At the conclusion of the investigation, appropriate action will be taken.”.
Last fall, Griffin was involved in an altercation at a Las Vegas nightclub.
When a loose ball hit the floor, the Clippers were slow to react. “You could feel that (Tuesday)”. The fight carried on outside, where the Griffin reportedly repeatedly hit the man. That’s not slight on the Clippers, as the Golden State Warriors, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Oklahoma City Thunder are all teams that can win an NBA Championship this summer.
“I’m not satisfied with anything”, he replied.
Rivers said he spoke with Griffin about that incident at the time, too, and that Griffin and his teammates will now have to learn a tough lesson the hard way.
The 22-year-old is averaging 18.5 points a game this season.
He was accused of misdemeanour battery but the charges were eventually dropped by Nevada prosecutors. The backcourt duo combined to go 8 of 18 from 3-point range against the Pacers, with Paul leading the comeback by recording 19 of his 26 points in the second half.
Griffin’s recovery time is expected to be approximately four to six weeks, the team said, though Rivers expressed his own doubts later on Tuesday.
