Grizzlies forward meets with media about altercation with Knicks head coach

Matt Barnes in speaking out regarding the altercation that occurred between him and ex-teammate Derek Fisher at the Los Angeles home belonging to his estranged wife, Gloria Govan.
Fisher is now the head coach of the New York Knicks, trying to somehow make his players work out the triangle offense.
Govan and have been separated for more than a year, while Fisher filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years in March.
The person said Fisher traveled to Los Angeles after practice Saturday to see his children and the altercation happened that night while Fisher was attending a gathering at the home of Gloria Govan, Barnes’ estranged wife. One source claimed that the fight was the reason Fisher missed practice on Monday.
Fisher is rumored to be said that although he did get roughed up by Barnes, he dished a few hits in return and it wasn’t all one sided as the media made it seem like when it first reported the story. “And I’m here to play basketball, so there won’t be any distractions”.
“We were close. We were friends”, Barnes told ESPN. “It’s like 10 o’clock at night”, Barnes said. “We have no further comment at this time”.

“I kicked his ass from the back yard to the front room, and spit in her face”, the text read, according to the source. A spokesperson for Barnes’ team, the Memphis Grizzlies, stated the incident is now under investigation.
“I’m here, I’m focused”, he said. “Being around this league long enough, I know that my personal concern is always my kids, their health, happiness and safety”.
Despite remaining mum regarding the incident, Fisher did reveal that he spoke about the alleged fight with Barnes to Knicks players. Coach Dave Joerger told reporters Thursday that the Grizzlies support Barnes, and the veteran said the support of his new team feels good.
