Authorities have identified the woman who was killed in a knife attack at a supermarket in southern Maine as a 59-year-old mother of five. Boudreau was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
Customers and employees subdued MacCalister until officers arrived, police said. The station reports that there is no indication that the women knew each other and police are still working on a motive.
‘She wanted to target a small elderly female whom she knew wouldn’t resist, ‘ MacCalister’s arrest affidavit reads.
In an interview later that day, MacCalister told police that she was “angry with life” and wanted to get back at someone.
MacCalister is scheduled to make her first court appearance Friday at York County Superior Court in Alfred.
Connor MacCalister, 31, of Saco, Maine, was charged with murder in the death of Wendy Boudreau, 59, also of Saco.
Neighbors and community members have called the killing senseless and unprovoked. Friend Jason DiDonato said Wendy Boudreau was the “glue of the family”.
When the witness asked MacCalister the reason for the attack, the suspect responded, “She looked at me amusing “. “My heart breaks for her family”. She and Boudreau had organized play dates for their children when they were young.
He said he remembered seeing MacCalister at the store previously.
