Guardians of the Galaxy 2 casts Pom Klementieff in mystery role
Apparently, Matthew McConaughey turned down a Guardians of the Galaxy 2 villain role.
This follows the actor’s confirmation months ago that he’d read for a Marvel role (which everyone thought would be Norman Osborne).
Then again, Marvel has managed to make it work with a few pretty high-profile names in recent years, and it’s definitely a shame that the two parties couldn’t reach a deal that worked for both of them.
James Gunn is ramping up his casting efforts for the follow-up of Guardians of the Galaxy and, already, the rumours are flying thick and fast.
French-Canadian actress Pom Klementieff has reportedly joined the film’s cast after a wide search by Marvel Studios.
Klementieff hails from France, and most of her film and TV credits, including Sleepless Night, are in her native country.
The original film was released August 1, 2014, and earned $333 million in US theaters and an impressive $774 million worldwide. Unfortunately, we don’t know too much about it.
But who wouldn’t want to go on a press tour with Chris Pratt?
Aside from her, there are plenty of great Guardians-related female characters to choose from (I saw Phyla Vell mentioned a couple of times on social media), although none that I can think of that would specifically require an Asian actress. Pom Klementieff has nabbed a new key role for the 2017 film, which begins shooting in early 2016.
