Guardiola: A special day for United, which is a pity
Pogba’s two goals both came from late runs into the penalty area from deep and he credited a United stalwart’s influence in that.
“When you make a mistake, you want to have an opportunity to make amends”, the defender continued.
“I always think if you’re wise you don’t attract attention when things aren’t going your way”.
United were being outclassed and if Raheem Sterling had been more assured City might have gone in at the break perhaps four goals ahead.
City then started the second half in similar fashion as Gundogan clipped the post with a curling effort but Pogba’s quick double interrupted their rhythm and reversed the momentum. “At half-time in the dressing room we said, “We have nothing to lose, 2-0, let’s do it”. They are 16 points clear at the moment and will love to beat United to get to the title.
“I congratulated Man City for the title”.
“We deserve a bit more respect than people give”, said the United boss.
“Our team is built to create, attack and that’s why we’ve had the season we’ve had”. But as far as our intention, there are no complaints’.
“We will try to pick ourselves up for Liverpool, we are professionals”, he told BBC Radio 5 live. We didn’t play our game and they could have been out of sight.
“In our case, I think we have eight points more than last season, more goals scored, less goals conceded, but Manchester City made it impossible for the others”. It is what it is. But we have to improve.
“He [Mourinho] didn’t have to say too much because as players you know that was not good enough”.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has shrugged off talk that Paul Pogba was offered to Manchester City in January, saying he’s “not interested”. But, he said as well that I am a top manager.
Hopefully City can beat Tottenham to win the title, as our challenge is to finish second, so I get the chance to congratulate City for their title. They need a win against Spurs at Wembley on Saturday to stay on course for the title with United hosting West Brom on Sunday having boosted their hopes of finishing second after this famous derby victory.
