Guardiola unveiled to fans as city make new signing
The difference at City is that Guardiola is not taking over a club high on the emotion of a league, domestic cup and European Cup treble as Bayern were in summer 2013. I’m glad to be here and thanks to Manchester City for giving me this fantastic opportunity to live in England, in Manchester and be part of the Premier League.
“We have great players and we have made some great new signings so I just need to work hard and I will get my chance to play”.
Soriano said: “From the start of the transfer window we said that we didn’t plan to do a revolution but a typical refreshment of the squad”.
The German spent one season plying his trade under Guardiola at Bayern Munich, where the pair won a Bundesliga title together.
“I wasn’t anxious”, Guardiola said of City’s close call with Champions League qualification. “It all depends on their quality and passion”. I want the people who enjoy football to be proud of what we did. “I can’t do that alone”.
“I think that we’ve done the work with much anticipation and two of the deals are closed and two other deals are fairly advanced”, he added. For me it’s good to see young players of 13, 14 and 15 playing, growing and imagining that one day they can play in the first team.
The 25-year-old joined the Citizens for £20 million last month but will be unable to make his debut for the club until August.
With the Club announcing the arrival of the promising Ukranian midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko from FC Ufa, it appears Guardiola will be looking to create a strong youth setup in order to challenge for the title.
However, Guardiola was quick to try ensure focus remains on the pitch, not on the dugout. In the past as well, there are good managers with Klopp, with Conte, with Ranieri, Mourinho Pochettino, Koeman.
“In England the most important thing in football. It depends on the context and you just have to wait and see, I guess”.
“One of my dreams would have been to play here like a football player, it was not possible and now my dream has come true”, he said.
