Gun Attack On Hertha Berlin Team Bus
Shots were fired by an unidentified motorcyclist on the Hertha Berlin team bus, the German Bundesliga team’s manager Michael Preetz confirmed on Sunday.
Hertha say the motorcyclist had overtaken the bus and threatened the driver “with his fist”, before turning and pointing a gun at the bus and the driver.
The club tweeted two pictures of the windscreen but said no one was injured in the incident.
Hertha published a photograph of the damaged bus windscreen on their website and said driver Stefan Behrendt was unhurt.
A man on a motorcycle is alleged to have performed the shooting before fleeing the scene, with police still aiming to find the culprit.
Hertha are staying near Bielefeld before their first-round tie with German second division side Arminia Bielefeld on Monday night.
One tweet read: “Unbelievable!”
Bielefeld police are investigating the incident and were taking extra precautions to protect the Hertha players, the Berliner Zeitung newspaper reported.
