‘Gun Debate Is Over’ After Rally In Washington

Both Kukoda and Doumbia have a history of political activism at the college, having organized an event similar to this one for the anniversary of the Women’s March together earlier this semester. “It was incredible seeing their leadership”. While the marches attracted more than 1 million people across the USA on Saturday in hopes of tightening gun laws, the Parkland, Fla. teens at the head of the movement know the road will be long and change won’t be easy.
For many parents, the march served as an outlet to empower their children through necessary discussions.
University of Maryland professor Dana R. Fisher has been surveying rallies and protests in the nation’s capital since Donald Trump’s inauguration in preparation for an upcoming book on the “Resistance” to the president. As an educator, Guagliardo expressed that her hope is to equip her students with knowledge and to empower them, but until recently, students have also embraced that role. However, she believes strongly in supporting gun control efforts, especially those coordinated by students.
March for our lives attracted the attention of citizens nationwide including celebrities who took to social media to document their support of the protest.
