Gun found at William Penn
William Penn Senior High School was put on lock down this morning when administrators received a credible report of a gun on the premises.
The incident happened at around 11 a.m. A juvenile will be charged.
Five other nearby schools were locked down during a law enforcement search.
Col. Randy Powers said the student in question has been located and taken into custody, as well as the gun.
Capitol Region Education Council, which Two Rivers Magnet High School belongs to, said a threat was received from an unidentified individual directed at the school.
Officials say the gun appeared to be a black automatic pistol, but they did not know if it was loaded or not. The grounds and incoming school buses were searched by the CREC crisis team personnel team with assistance from police.
Ragsdale, Millis Road Elementary, Christine Joyner Greene Education Center, Haynes-Inman Education Center, and Jamestown Elementary were all placed on lockdown, according to the school system.
