Gunman fired 15 shots in deputy’s gas station killing
Shannon Miles, who faces capital murder charges in the deadly shooting last week at a suburban gas station, was charged in 2012 with felony aggravated assault following a fight inside a Salvation Army facility in Austin, Texas.

Miles will undergo a psychological examination as part of his background investigation, Osso said. Osso said the defense will have an independent ballistics test done.
“I want to accentuate the positive here”, Anderson said.
The sheriff said surveillance video shows people drove up to the Chevron station while the shooting was happening, and he asked them to come forward.
Abbott, in a statement Monday, said Texas has sustained a “deliberate and heinous crime” against a law enforcement officer in Harris County.
Prosecutors revealed details about the slaying Monday.
Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson would not comment on a motive, saying investigators were still trying to figure that out.
At a second press conference Saturday to describe the arrest of Shannon Miles, a black man who has been charged with capital murder, Hickman said anti-cop rhetoric could influence people to commit crimes against police officers.
The suspect then shot the deputy repeatedly in the back as he lay dying on the ground.

In total, Goforth was shot 15 times and pronounced dead on the scene.
A witness positively identified Miles in a lineup as the shooter, Anderson said. A search for red Ford Ranger pickup trucks yielded a result in the same 77095 Houston ZIP code where the shooting occurred. 40 caliber pistol found at Miles’ home.
No motive has been revealed yet, police said. “Fifteen shell casings. You can do the math”, Anderson told reporters following the court proceedings.
“We are seeing a manifestation of the harsh rhetoric and vilification of law enforcement that is coming from the top all the way to the president of the United States and senior administration officials”, Cruz said. We will make them as carefully and consistently as we can. “Our assumption is that (Goforth) was a target because he wore a uniform”, the sheriff said.
This weekend, Sheriff Ron Hickman said the attack was “clearly unprovoked”, and there is no evidence Goforth knew Miles.
As previously reported, investigators are looking into whether the Black Lives Matter movement was involved in Miles’ motivation for the recent police shooting.
The nationwide Black Lives Matter movement has sought police reforms.
