Gunman shoots 1 in downtown Denver, kills self

The department said around 2:45 p.m. that officers were responding to reports of a man with a gun and that there was a heavy police presence in the area.

At least several people were injured when a gunman was reported in the lower downtown neighborhood of Denver Tuesday, CBS News and the Denver Post reported.

Police said victims are being transported to the hospital.

“This was not a random shooting”, he said. The woman was shot several times and rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is in critical condition. Detectives are working to determine the connection between the victim and the suspect.

Roads remain blocked in the area as the investigation continues.

Police tweeted out an update that the scene was secure at 3:30 p.m.

Other buildings were locked down, and people were asked to stay away from the area.
