GUNS DOWN Obama reportedly mulls exec action on way to Ore
According to The Post, Obama met with Attorney Gen. Loretta Lynch to discuss the background check proposal in July after the deadly shootings at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina. “Oregon is a state with a strong tradition of hunting, of target shooting and of guns for personal and family safety”.
It was hard not to sympathise with US President Barack Obama last week when he expressed anguish over what has become utterly mundane in modern-day America: the gunning down of multiple people in single, horrific incidents. Instead, he cited “friends of ours, allies of ours – Great Britain, Australia, countries like ours”. Senate Democrats are now pushing to expand those laws nationwide. But don’t worry, gun humpers: Even if Obama gets his way we’ll still have plenty of massacres and mass shootings and dead kids to go around. Nearly all of these killings are done with guns in the possession of criminals.
The cable television ad set to begin airing Tuesday on CNN and MSNBC seeks to capitalize on a leading congressional Republican’s candid claim that the House Select Committee on Benghazi has damaged Clinton’s standing in the 2016 presidential race.
The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. These people would have still received their guns after 72 hours of waiting. Jennifer Baker, spokeswoman for the National Rifle Association, said the change could “ensnare” people who were not meant to be covered, such as a widow selling her husband’s gun collection.
The latest act of gun violence has a few in Congress calling for steps to close background check loopholes for guns that are purchased online and at gun shows.
A prominent Senate Republican, John Cornyn of Texas, has already submitted a much more modest bill that would encourage the states to share more information about people with mental problems to be included in the federal background check database.
The truth is that the United States and its attitude toward gun culture are unique. It makes no sense for a 26-year-old to own 15 guns, unless he is getting ready to go to war.
“We’re asking one million Americans to call our toll-free number at (800) 292-9044 and simply press “1” if they think the president is lying to push gun control”, he said. Gun ownership is falling.
