Guns N’ Roses, LCD Soundsystem to Headline Coachella Valley Music and Arts
First in the announcement of the Coachella lineup for 2016 are LCD Soundsystem, Guns N’ Roses and Calvin Harris.
McKagan quit Guns N’ Roses in 1997, but was inducted with the rest of the band’s original line-up into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
It seems their $3 million per show price reported by Billboard may have been met. Not bad for a few hours work. So far the lineup is Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer, and Chris Pitman, though the band have only officially confirmed Rose, Slash, and McKagan.
LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy promises the band’s upcoming Coachella reunion is not just “a victory lap”-its members are working on a new album and planning a new tour as well”.
This will mark the first time that long-estranged GNR singer Axl Rose and former GNR guitarist Slash have performed together since 1992.
Welcome to Coachella, Guns N’ Roses! Over the holidays, mysterious Guns N’ Roses clips ran before screenings of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, and the band’s official website has updated the page, suggesting future activity.
Of course, the main thing to take away from this is that Guns N’ Roses is headlining the biggest night of the festival. Scottish DJ and Taylor Swift’s special friend Calvin Harris will be headlining the third day of the festival. Tickets are on sale tomorrow (January 6th 2016).
Other performers at this year’s Coachella include Ellie Goulding, Sufjan Stevens, Jack U, Ice Cube, ASAP Rocky, CHVRCHES, Sia, Major Lazer, Flume, Courtney Barnett and Lord Huron.
