Gurgaon criminal gunned down in Mumbai
But he instead fired two rounds, injuring two officers, causing the Gurgaon police officers to etaliate.
Gurgaon gangster Sandeep Gadoli was killed in a shootout in Mumbai.
However, many questions have been raised about the method used by the police to corner the criminal, and Mumbai Police does not seem to believe the story put forward by the Gurgaon Crime Branch. However, the incident has come under the scrutiny of Mumbai Police, which was not notified of the Gurgaon cops’ plans in advance.
Gurgaon police chief Navdeep Singh Virk told the media that Garouli was shot dead by a crime branch team at a Mumbai hotel. A Gurgaon policeman, part of the eight men involved in the operation, also claimed that they first approached the Andheri police station and then Sahar police stations, but were informed that the hotel did not fall under their jurisdiction.
For instance, the Gurgaon team should have intimated the local police about its plans before barging into the hotel to arrest Gadoli. There was a cross fire between them and the accused got injured.
Mumbai police PRO and crime branch DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni said, “We are taking statements of officials and we will soon submit the inquiry report”.
Two policemen injured in the shootout and they were taken to a local hospital. “They claimed that they had called the police control room to inform about their arrival but our call records show that no such calls were made”, said another senior officer.
Gadoli – who kept Gurgaon Police on its toes for more than two decades – had 40 cases registered against him. Gadoli carried a cash reward of Rs 1.25 Lakh on his head.
His aide Sonu was arrested in Mumbai last month for sexually harassing a model.
