Gurley drives stake through Cowboys after Dak’s accuracy wavers

DUAL-THREAT GURLEY: Gurley joined Hall of Famers Jim Brown (1958, 1963) and Emmitt Smith (1995) as the only National Football League players with at least 575 scrimmage yards and seven touchdowns in the first four games. Philip Rivers passed for 347 yards and two TDs for the Chargers, who have lost nine consecutive games dating to last season in San Diego. However, a holding penalty on Travis Frederick nullified the play. Prescott said the Cowboys are “not going to lose confidence” after their latest loss.

The Rams must find a way to get to Dak Prescott and pressure the Cowboys’ quarterback. Unfortunately, on the third and final try, the attempt was no good. The score came when Prescott found a wide-open James Hanna, who rumbled in for the 28-yard touchdown, his first career score. Ezekiel Elliott has struggled on the field as well as off the field, with 192 yards and one touchdown on the ground through three weeks of play. LA ran one play in victory formation and the game was over. OLB Mark Barron intercepted Dak Prescott in the fourth quarter.

From a pass rush perspective, the Cowboys will welcome David Irving back with open arms this week because DeMarcus Lawrence can not continue to do this alone.

Sean McVay’s upstart team hit the road and beat the Cowboys in Dallas to highlight Week 4 in the NFC West. Dallas got another shot after a defensive holding call.
