Guti’s walkoff in 10th lifts M’s over Blue Jays 6
“Time’s not on our side, man”, said manager John Gibbons.
“We’re not in a position to do this”. “Sometimes you have a tough year”.
“I didn’t even know that we had anymore pitchers in the bullpen”, Gutierrez said. “It’ll be good to head home, get a day off tomorrow and play back at home”. The major contributing factor to that play was poor baserunning by the Jays.
Two of the three losses the Blue Jays have endured in the second half have been charged to their bullpen. Six of those 19 games are against the Yankees.
Franklin Gutierrez delivered the biggest hit yet of his comeback with the Seattle Mariners.
They have a maddening tendency to lose games they should win.
Buehrle is 5-1 with a 1.52 ERA in his past nine starts and has not issued a walk in four outings this month.
Miller and Walker both said there was some confusion over how many outs were actually recorded on the play.
The unit was overworked, but they had an opportunity to grant the Blue Jays a big series win and instead left the team back at.
Seattle cut its deficit to 4-3 on RBI singles from Jackson and right fielder Nelson Cruz in the bottom of the third. The Blue Jays carried an eight-game home run streak into Sunday’s game…. Cano infield single to third, N.Cruz to second.
Goins grounded out at first- that was simple enough.
In this case, Carrera’s entitled to the bag, and usually Pillar would be retired as the second out. Carrera has the right to third because he was there to start the play, so Pillar is tagged out.
2 runs, 5 hits, 0 errors, 3 left on.
The Jays’ 3-3 road trip wasn’t that bad but they have fallen back to.500, which isn’t that good.
That lead disappeared in a hurry in the bottom of the seventh.
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher J.A. Happ, right, hands over the game ball to manager Lloyd McClendon as third baseman Kyle Seager looks on in the second inning of a baseball game against the Toronto Blue Jays Saturday, July 25, 2015, in Seattle. “If and when he goes down there, we’d monitor it and see how he’s doing physically playing every day, how his at-bats are and so forth, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves”. What would not upset fans is if Seattle Mariners news from Sunday (July 26) began with an announcement that Rodney was no longer with the team.
The inning started with promise.
With the Blue Jays leading 4-3, Ezequiel Carrera walked to open the fourth and moved to third on Kevin Pillar’s single to left field.
Unfortunately that’s where the inning ended. Miller threw home to catcher Mike Zunino. By that time, Pillar had raced around to third, as he should have. By rule, Pillar is out and Carrera – who, as the lead runner, has a right to the base – is safe.
But for some reason, Carrera briefly stepped off the bag then was tagged out.
Suckage: Bo Schultz (-0.295, plus about another -0.400 if Carrera doesn’t save the HR), Loup (-0.390), Bautista (-0.135, 0/5), Goins (-0.216, but some of that is the triple play which wasn’t all him).
At home, his teammates cocooned him in the middle of their circle and mobbed him. The team at bat must have at least two players on base, and no outs against them. “He’s got that knack of putting the ball in play”.
“If I had found out in advance maybe I would do a few things a little different”, Pomeranz said, “but finding out today there’s really not much you can do”. “You need to try and find a way to win”.
