Guus Hiddink makes big announcement about the Chelsea job
“Jose is an outstanding coach but the club’s results and position in the Premier League standings are well beneath a club of Chelsea‘s stature”.
This morning they appeared to confirm that their former National team head coach Guus Hiddink would return to Chelsea. “I give everything I have, sometimes too much, too emotional”, Mourinho said.
The ex-Anderlecht hitman explained: ‘I had one conversation with him a few days before I left and I told him I wanted to go and I think he saw in my eyes that I really needed to play because it was the year of the World Cup.
Chelsea are 16th in the Premier League and one point above the relegation zone after 16 games.
” He also said that Chelsea could no longer achieve the top-four finish necessary to qualify for next season’s Champions League”.
Well-travelled Dutch veteran Hiddink is viewed as the ideal antidote to the dressing-room discontent that has coincided with Chelsea’s decline from defending champions into relegation battlers.
Chelsea have sacked manager Jose Mourinho seven months after he led them to the Premier League title.
“Thank you doesn’t seem enough”.
“Gonna miss you Boss”.
“I want to have a very good insight into how all it got into this way”.
Hiddink has managed Chelsea once before, taking the reigns in 2009 when Luiz Felipe Scolari was dismissed.
Football Federation Australia posted a statement on its website congratulating their ex-boss Hiddink on his new challenge.
“Good luck in the future”.
On Thursday, Chelsea sacked manager Jose Mourinho, who was fired after the club failed to live up to expectations this season, losing nine of 16 league matches.
“I find it irresponsible from a players” point of view, especially when they come out after the game and say: “We’ve done that for the old manager'”.
“It was a decision taken to protect the interests of the club”, Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo said. “We feel it was time to act”.
“Anybody, any fan, who loves the club or has any affiliation with the club can understand this club is in trouble”.
Chelsea insisted Mourinho’s departure was by “mutual consent” on Thursday afternoon, only for club board member Emenalo to later offer more forthright views.
Despite claims that Jose Mourinho had ‘lost the dressing room, ‘ Terry’s sentiments were echoed by a number of other Chelsea players including Cesc Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta.
“The club’s focus is now on ensuring our talented squad reaches its potential”.
