Habs deal Tokarski to Ducks for Friberg
The Anaheim Ducks have announced that they have acquired goaltender Dustin Tokarski from the Montreal Canadiens and in return they have sent winger Max Friberg to Montreal. The 26-year-old had only managed one win through six appearances with the Habs this campaign, and his poor rate stats (3.18 GAA, .878 save percentage) left the team deciding to go a different direction.
Friberg, 23, has appeared in six career National Hockey League games with the Ducks, logging two penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating. He had 17 points – five goals, 12 assists – with the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League this season.
The move to acquire Tokarski wasn’t a direct response to Ducks goalie John Gibson getting hurt Wednesday night in their 4-0 loss to Toronto.
Gibson is considered day to day and the injury is not to be considered serious in nature, a Ducks spokesman said.
Originally from Skovde, Sweden, Friberg was selected in the fifth round, 143rd overall by Anaheim in the NHL Amateur Draft in 2011.
Tokarski was a fifth-round pick in 2008 by Tampa Bay.
