Habs’ PK Subban brings winter wonderland to sick kids
To say P.K. Subban gives back to his community would be a pretty big understatement, and he was at it again during the holiday season.
The trash-talking Canadiens defenseman is known to claw his way under his opponents’ skin when engaging in the 60-minute war that is a game in the National Hockey League. First, it was singing “Let It Go” with his teammates, and then he and Air Canada gave the kids a Christmas surprise at Montreal Children’s Hospital.
At the time of the donation, Subban said that he wanted to be remembered for more than his hockey career. Subban partnered with the Air Canada Foundation to create a winter wonderland in the hospital’s atrium for the kids to enjoy with their parents.
But Subban’s involvement with the hospital doesn’t just end with money.
Andy, like many other kids in the clip, told Subban he loved him. Sometimes I try to think, ‘P.K., are you a hockey player or are you just someone who plays hockey?’ I just play hockey. That makes Subban a hero in my book – off the ice, anyway.
While he was spreading cheer for Christmas, Subban will be all business come New Year’s Day when the Canadiens visit their Original Six rival Bruins in the 2016 Winter Classic in Boston.
