Hacked emails complicate Democratic National Convention
Several people I talked to put the blame – or at least a large portion of it – on President Obama and his inner circle of political advisers who never cared about the DNC in any meaningful way and, as a result, left Wassermam Schultz to wither on the vine as they worked around her time and again.
Brazile, who also serves as a ABC News and CNN political commentator, is taking over as interim DNC chair after the convention, following the resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz. During the primaries, the Sanders campaign had alleged that the party was not staying neutral. “He’s ridiculous”, she said of Trump.
The Democratic National Convention got off to a rough start Monday amid tensions over an email scandal involving outgoing Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Bernie Sanders supporters angry over the primary process. “Yes, I would have”, Sanders said on NBC’s “Meet the Press”.
Miguel Valdez, a 32 year old Sanders delegate from Florida who protested loudly, told NBC News he could not be sure if Sanders supporters would protest as vigorously on the floor of the Wells Fargo Arena, where the Democratic National Convention will take place.
Clinton campaign officials pointed the finger for the hack at Russian military intelligence agencies. Wasserman Schultz denied the accusation, but was forced out as chief Sunday.
Wasserman Schultz said her resignation would take effect after the convention. “Our focus is on electing Hillary Clinton, Tim Kaine and Democrats across the country, thanks to Democratic Party that is strong, unified, and poised for victory in November”.
“My campaign election lawyers are investigating these circumstances and preparing a complaint against Wasserman Schultz with the Federal Election Commission”, Canova said. Others said they simply couldn’t support Clinton. Wasserman Schultz’s tenure at the head of the DNC has been rocky nearly since the moment she took over the job in 2011.
Wasserman Schultz was made to walk the plank at the DNC, and immediately hired by the Clinton campaign. We will all have a voice in a Clinton administration.
Earlier, at a raucous meeting with his delegates, Sanders implored them to get behind Clinton and her running mate, Virginia Sen.
The release of thousands of embarrassing internal email exchanges between Democratic Party officials threatens to overshadow the party’s message of unity on the eve of the party’s convention in Philadelphia. “This is a chance for the Democratic Party to reach out to the Bernie people and start making amends”. “I think that’s going to have to come from the other side”.
